Welcome to New Decade. Here's what you can expect from us.

Most insurance blogs exist to fill space. This one exists because our clients keep asking the same good questions — and the answers are worth writing down.

Who we are

An independent brokerage, built by experienced agents.

New Decade Insurance is an independent, family-run brokerage based in Los Angeles, built by agents who have been writing insurance since 2005. We're licensed in California, Texas, Florida, and Arizona, and we work both sides of the aisle: commercial coverage for small and mid-size businesses — trucking and fleet, restaurants and bars, contractors and the trades, real estate, auto repair — and personal lines for drivers who need a fair shake, including SR-22 filings.

"Independent" is the word that matters. We don't work for a carrier; we work for you. When you ask us to quote your business, we shop your file across the carriers that actually compete in your state and bring back the policy we'd pick for ourselves. Sometimes that's the cheapest one. Sometimes it isn't — and we'll tell you why.

Why this blog exists

Renewals shouldn't look random.

Insurance prices moved strangely in 2026. Most commercial lines got cheaper for the first time since 2017 — while commercial auto posted its 59th straight quarterly increase and umbrella premiums kept climbing on courtroom verdicts. If nobody explains that split to you, your renewal just looks random.

That's the gap this blog fills. Expect plain-language answers to questions like:

  • Why did my premium go up when my record is clean?
  • What's a nuclear verdict, and why does it change what a trucker in Fresno pays?
  • Why didn't my bar's liquor liability soften when everything else did?
  • What do California's and Texas's new insurance laws actually mean for my business?
  • What does an audit look for — and what's the subcontractor mistake that lands on your payroll?

Every post follows the same rules we hold ourselves to in the office: define the jargon, show the numbers with sources, explain the mechanism — and always end with what you can actually do about it.

Our promise

What we won't do.

We won't pad posts to chase a search ranking. We won't invent statistics. We won't end an article by trying to scare you into a phone call. And we won't ever pretend a blog post is advice about your policy — that takes a conversation about your actual operation, which is what we're here for.

Hablamos español

Si prefieres español, estás en casa.

We're bilingual by default — quotes, claims, renewals, and every post on this blog, in English or Spanish, with the same plain voice in both. Licensed brokers, direct lines.

This article is general information, not insurance advice or a quote. Coverage and pricing depend on your operation and carrier underwriting.
